6/17 Schwarber to Kane County

Kyle Schwarber, the fourth overall pick in the 2014 First-Year Player Draft, homered twice Tuesday, leading short-season Boise to a 12-3 victory against Tri-City. And his effort earned him a promotion. The Cubs announced that Schwarber has been promoted to Class A Kane County, and was expected to join the team on Wednesday. Five games into his pro career, he was 12-for-20 with four home runs, seven runs and 10 RBIs.

“It sounds like he’s doing well,” manager Rick Renteria said. “Hopefully it continues for him. … Good for him. I’m sure he’s very excited. It sounds like he’s a kid who just wants to play ball.”

I am more certain that the Cubs will look to add Almora in a trade package with someone like Ejax to get a better return of prospects………..Schwarber in LF, Lake in CF and Bryant in RF by the end of 2015……….Almora sounds like a guy who is not looking to get on base with walks……..could be another Campana / Fuld type of player.

Are you saying that Lake is willing to take walks because his 33% strikeout rate and .265 on base don’t look too great to me. Almora likely isn’t going anywhere unless they get a crazy return back. And labeling him as a Fuld/Campana player right now is pretty foolish

Aloha CubsTalk- I know it is possible and I would be disappointed if what you predict about Kyle S, comes true, meaning him going to the outfield. We really need a good catcher and I was excited when I heard the team drafted a catcher as I was thinking either a pitcher (if possible a left-hander) or catcher. Anyhow, happy to hear about his promotion, needed the positive news since the Marlins have tied up the game and the defense has fallen apart to give up an unearned run. I know they say pitching but defense can kill a game too. Take care now. Mahalo!

Right now there’s probably a 95% chance he moves off of catcher, but the bat should play anywhere, don’t worry

Almora may be the smartest young baseball player the Cubs have in their system (other than Bryant). He’s not going anywhere.

Aloha Carrie- that is neat to hear about Almora and I am sure if the FO would trade any folks away with his caliber there has to be something big in return. I am glad for now that he is staying put. Mahalo!
