6/18 Pre-game notes

The Cubs close their series against the Marlins on Wednesday, sending Jake Arrieta to the mound. At 29-40, the Cubs have an identical record through 69 games as they did last year.

With a win today, the Cubs would win consecutive road series for the first time in nearly a year since taking two of three games in both Milwaukee and Seattle June 25-30, 2013.

Arrieta enters the game with a 16 2/3 scoreless innings streak, the second-longest active run by a starting pitcher in the National League behind Philadelphia’s Cole Hamels (23 2/3 innings pitched).

This also is the Cubs’ halfway mark of their road schedule this year.
