6/19 Castillo 1-for-5 on Friday – UPDATED

Welington Castillo went 1-for-5, grounding out in four at-bats and hitting a single in the sixth, in his first Minor League rehab game on Friday with Triple-A Iowa. He had been scheduled to start Thursday but was a late scratch as a precautionary measure because of wet grounds. Castillo has been battling a left rib cage strain. Iowa manager Marty Pevey said he didn’t want Castillo to risk injury with the wet grounds behind home plate. Castillo did take batting practice and caught in the bullpen. He batted second and started behind the plate Friday.

It is on Twitter, so it has to be true…#Cubs GM Jed Hoyer said they want to keep Jeff Samardzija and need to make a descision on Jason Hammel soon. (Shark is under team control next year…)

Of course, this probably means it is more likely he’ll be traded.

Shark Trade Event is like becoming a Christmas Morning event…..everyone can’t wait to see what the Cubs will get in return.
