6/22 Minor matters
Chris Rusin gave up four runs over 6 1/3 innings in Iowa’s 4-0 loss to Albuquerque. Welington Castillo had two singles and two walks, and stole a base in his second rehab game. He re-joined the Cubs on Sunday and was activated from the disabled list.
Corey Black gave up two runs over 4 2/3 innings in Tennessee’s 4-1 loss to Chattanooga. Christian Villanueva drove in the Smokies’ only run with a RBI double.
Daytona pounded 18 hits in an 11-4 win over Tampa. Rock Shoulders had three hits, including a three-run homer and a double, and Jordan Hankins had three hits, including a two-run home run. Wes Darvill drove in four hits.
Kane County’s game against Cedar Rapids was postponed because of rain. The two teams were to play a doubleheader Sunday.
Varonex Cuevas homered for his first hit with Boise in the Hawks’ 3-2 loss to Spokane. Cuevas had been 0-for-16 to start the season.
Mesa opened the Rookie League season with a 10-9 loss to Arizona. Jorge Soler went 3-for-5, hitting two doubles and driving in two runs.
