7/29 Minor matters – Monday’s games
Iowa had Monday off, and returns to action Tuesday against New Orleans. Dae-Eun Rhee is scheduled to start.
Albert Almora and Addison Russell were both 4-for-6 in Tennessee’s 11-8 win over Birmingham. The win moved the Smokies into first place in the North Division. Eduardo Figueroa gave up five runs over six innings and picked up the win. Lars Anderson hit his first home run, driving in two runs. Almora scored three runs and drove in two, and Russell scored once and drove in one. Dustin Geiger had two hits, three walks and three RBIs.
Juan Paniagua gave up two hits over six scoreless innings in Daytona’s 7-0 win over Bradenton. Wilson Contreras had three hits and two RBIs. Billy McKinney added two hits and drove in two.
Kane County totaled seven hits in a 2-1 loss to West Michigan. Shawon Dunston had two doubles and drove in the Cougars’ only run.
Trevor Clifton gave up four earned runs over 3 2/3 innings in Boise’s 6-1 loss to Hillsboro. The Hawks were 0-for-6 with RISP.
Gleyber Torres had three hits and drove in two in Mesa’s 12-6 loss to the Diamondbacks. C.J. Edwards gave up one run on one hit and three walks over 3 2/3 innings. He struck out six. Kevonte Mitchell had his fifth multi-hit game, going 3-for-5.
