#Cubs Javier Baez out 4-8 weeks

Javier Baez suffered a non-displaced fracture in his left ring finger Sunday, and could miss four to eight weeks. He will be re-evaluated this week. Baez was injured in the seventh inning when he slid head-first into second base on a steal in Triple-A Iowa’s game against Memphis. X-rays revealed the injury. Baez was batting .314, and started at third base on Sunday, his fifth game there for the I-Cubs.

Bad break for Javy, hope he recovers soon and keeps swinging a hot bat when he comes back.

Definitely hated to hear about this as I like Javy who is still only 22 years old. He had shown big signs of improvement in his 37 games at Iowa thus far with 11 walks and 40 K’s, good enough for a .386 OBP along with .314 BA, and a .536 slugging. Heal up and come back hungry Javy!

ahhh this sucks…. definitely a big time loss and I hope he can come back strong

I know. It seemed like he was on the verge of returning to the Majors too. Let’s hope he recovers quickly and fully and that he can get back on track and contribute in some way before the season is out.

Javy was going to be up tomorrow or thursday IMO…. just a shame… that really hurts the progression of the major league team this year. All I can say is I hope Denorfia can give us a burst of production for the next 4-8 weeks. Hope Javy is a quick healer.
