#Cubs Minor League report: Happ homers
Iowa totaled four hits in a 1-0 loss to Round Rock. Matt Szczur, Christian Villanueva, Rafael Lopez and Chris Valaika each
notched a hit. Yoanner Negrin struck out three over 2 2/3 scoreless innings of relief.
Ivan Pineyro gave up three hits over six scoreless innings in Tennessee’s 11-2 win over Mississippi. Billy McKinney and
Bijan Rademacher each hit home runs. McKinney finished with three hits and three RBI. Mike Olt also had two hits and Albert Almora had two hits and three RBI.
Myrtle Beach totaled three hits in a 2-0 loss to Lynchburg in the first game of a doubleheader. Jen-Ho Tseng gave up two
runs on seven hits over five innings and took the loss. In the second game, Myrtle Beach clinched the first half Southern
Division championship with a 5-2 win. Jonathan Martinez gave up three runs on three hits and five walks over three innings.
South Bend snapped a four-game losing streak with a 3-2 win over West Michigan. Erick Leal gave up two runs over six
innings for the win. Cael Brockmeyer, Andrew Ely and Gleyber Torres each had two hits.
First-round pick Ian Happ hit a solo homer in the fourth inning, his first as a pro, but it wasn’t enough as Eugene lost,
10-4, to Everett. Happ now is 2-for-9 in his first two games with the short-season team.
Mesa opened the rookie league season with a 4-0 loss to the Brewers. Austyn Willis gave up two hits over five innings and
struck out five.
