#Cubs lineup and No. 2,000, Clayton Richard

Left-hander Clayton Richard, acquired Friday from the Pirates for cash considerations, will make his Cubs debut on Saturday night. There will be fireworks after the game at Wrigley Field. Here’s the lineup:

Fowler CF

Rizzo 1B

Bryant 3B

Montero C

Castro SS

Coghlan LF

Denorfia RF

Richard P

Russell 2B

* Richard will be the 2,000th player to appear in a game for the Cubs. According to historian Ed Hartig, here are the milestone players:

500th Cubs player: Ollie Hanson, April 27, 1921 at Cincinnati

1,000th Cubs: Hall of Famer Billy Williams, Aug. 6, 1959 vs. Philadelphia

1,500th Cubs: Jose Vizcaino, April 16, 1991 vs. Philadelphia

* The Cubs are 118-97-3 on the Fourth of July. Billy Williams leads the franchise with six home runs all-time on this date.

Aloha Folks- Well, have to give Richard credit, no easy task not pitching in the bigs for 2yrs after surgery. He did very well today, kudos to him. Also have to give the Marlins kudos too because after the second inning, the Cubs I think did not get another hit. So, if Bryant does not get those two knocks, Miami wins. I hope the team can come out of this funk soon, starting tomorrow leading into the Cardinals series. I think the Fox announcers said that the Cubs like to swing at first pitches which we all know and also mentioned how tough it is for them when they are behind in the count, that is “youth.” Hope you all are having a blessed 4th! Mahalo!
