Aloha Folks- First kudos to Beeler for coming up from AAA and pitching like he did for almost 6 innings. It got dicey there when things looked like they were going to implode and the Cards took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 7th. Castro lead off and with a 3-1 count, he swung at what I thought was a bad pitch and hit a soft roller to make the first out. I bring this up because of what happened later with Rizzo… It was neat to the see the other hitters be patient knowing with 1 out they need base runners. Kudos to Addison who has been in a bad funk to get that scratch hit up 1st base which netted a run. Fowler safe on a FC. Then comes up Rizzo. After there are two strikes on him, he shortens up on the bat and gets a good hit going almost straight-away to Center field which brings in another run. This is small ball and that 7th inning displayed more of it. No hrs – hits, making things happen and disrupting the other teams rhythm. That was a great ab for Rizzo. I know the bp has been a little shaky these past couple of games (late innings), one might say they deserve it but when there has been no run support it puts a lot of pressure on them. I hope tomorrow the team can provide run support early on, play good defense and build on today’s victories. Gunbatene Cubbies! Mahalo!
