Meanwhile Matt Szczur gets on base two mute times, scored another run and collects another outfield assist.

MatB…I take it you are advocating a promotion for Szczur? With Fowler seemingly finding his bat of late and Schwarber getting time in LF I don’t see that promotion happening until Sept.1st call ups but for the most part the way Fowler played (disappointed…?) most of the year Szczur would have given him a run for his money and he may deserve a shot at CF next year. I certainly wouldn’t entertain bringing Fowler back at millions of dollars when there is a good chance you can get at least the same lackluster play from Szczur with a better upside and chance of surpassing the numbers Fowler put up this year. Either way, Szczur or not I believe we will see a different center fielder next season than Fowler, how about you MatB?

I know. I wanted to see them put Szczur out there every day while Fowler was on the disabled list. I want to see the kid succeed. I don’t know if it will happen with the Cubs. I’m guessing he will be part of any trade the Cubs put together today.

You never know MatB, they may have him in mind as an option for CF next season, letting Fowler walk, saving money on that position and putting that saved payroll money in the pitching staff…(Price, closer etc.).

Dan Haren to the Cubs from Marlins…??? Not bad…

Glad the FO is sticking with the plan and not trading the farm away! It’s about building this team so they are competitive every year. Expectations for next year will be high!

AGREED! Not for Tyson Ross who leads MLB in walks.
