#Cubs Minor League report: Leal throws 9 no-hit innings
Javier Baez hit his 11th home run and Carlos Pimentel gave up two runs over 6 1/3 innings in Iowa’s 6-5 win over Colorado Springs. Baez hit a two-run homer in the eighth, and is batting .315. Chris Valaika had two hits and three RBIs.
Rob Zastryzny gave up three earned runs over 6 1/3 innings in Tennessee’s 6-5 win over Birmingham. Jeimer Candelario had two hits, including a home run, and drove in five runs. Willson Contreras had three hits and one RBI.
Jonathan Martinez gave up one run over six innings in Myrtle Beach’s 6-1 win over Wilmington. Cael Brockmeyer had two hits and one RBI.
Erick Leal threw nine no-hit innings but did not get a decision as South Bend lost, 1-0, in 12 innings. Leal struck out four and walked one. Jeffrey Baez had three hits, including two doubles.
Eugene had Tuesday off.
