#Cubs Minor League report: Happ, Hodges homer

Friday’s games

Iowa lost 9-2 to Nashville. Felipe Paulino gave up six runs on six hits and two walks over two innings. Tommy La Stella hit a double.

Rob Zastryzny gave up eight earned runs over 2 2/3 innings in Tennessee’s 14-2 loss to Chattanooga. Albert Almora extended his hitting streak to 11 games. Jacob Hannemann had two hits, including a double, and one RBI.

Cael Brockmeyer hit a solo home run in Myrtle Beach’s 7-3 loss to Lynchburg. Jeremy Null gave up three hits over five scoreless innings.

James Norwood gave up two runs, none earned, over six innings and Ian Happ and Jesse Hodges both homered in South Bend’s 12-2 win over Wisconsin. Happ went 3-for-5 with two RBI. Hodges was 3-for-5 with four RBI. David Bote had three hits and two RBI.

Oscar De La Cruz gave up five runs over five innings in Eugene’s 6-3 loss to Everett. Tyler Alamo and Eloy Jimenez each had two hits.

Mesa lost, 5-4, to the Reds. Carlos Jimenez hit a two-run homer. Austyn Willis gave up four earned runs over five innings. Carlos Sepulveda had three hits.

Saw that Brockmeyer long ball last night and it was a ‘no doubter.’ Cael did look ‘shaky on defense at first base, as he committed two miscues. He’s listed in the program as a catcher.
