#Cubs Lester faces Tigers

Jon Lester takes the mound on Wednesday as the Cubs close their brief two-game Interleague series against the Tigers. Here’s the lineup:

Fowler CF

Schwarber LF

Bryant 3B

Rizzo 1B

Soler RF

Castro 2B

Ross C

Lester P

Russell SS

The Cubs and Tigers will wear throwback uniforms from the 1945 season, which is when these two teams met in the World Series. The Tigers won, 4-3.

The Cubs are 14-8 all-time when wearing throwback uniforms, including a 4-0 mark this season.

On Tuesday, Addison Russell collected his 30th extra-base hit with a fifth inning triple, his first career triple. He joins fellow rookie Kris Bryant, who has 39 extra-base hits, as the third Cubs rookie duo in the last 25 years since 1990 to reach 30 extra-base hits. Geovany Soto (60 extra-base hits) and Kosuke Fukudome (38) turned the trick in 2008 while Tyler Colvin (43) and Starlin Castro (39) did so in 2010.

Jorge Soler has 25 extra-base hits. The last time the Cubs had a trio of rookies reach 30 extra-base hits in a season was in 1966 when Adolfo Phillips (46), Randy Hundley (44) and Byron Browne (38) did so.

Just fyi, Kyle Schwarber has 14 extra-base hits.

Jinx alert! Tonight’s Cubs-Tigers game will be on television in Brazil. So far this season, every single Cubs game shown on TV here has resulted in a Cubs’ loss or a rainout. This must stop! Now! Stay tuned. Go, Cubbies.

Aloha Bruce- I just hope they can pick up tomorrow’s game, they are imploding right now, the pitching. Mahalo.
