#Cubs lineup: Arrieta starts vs Braves
Jake Arrieta will try to end the Cubs’ losing streak on Thursday when they open a four-game series against the Braves. Here’s the lineup:
*Arrieta defeated the White Sox in his last start, allowing three runs in 6 2/3 innings. He’s 8-1 with a 1.35 ERA (12 ER, 80 IP) over his last 11 starts. He defeated the Braves on July 19 in Atlanta, giving up three hits over seven shutout innings.
*With 162 innings this season, Arrieta is 11 1/3 innings away from matching his most innings as a professional. He totaled 173 1/3 innings between the Minors and Majors in 2010. He’s on pace to finish the 2015 regular season with 222 innings.
*Kyle Schwarber hit his 10th homer in his 36th career game and 118th career at-bat on Wednesday. The previous Cub to amass at least 10 homers in his first 36 career games was Bob Speake in 1955.
Schwarber already ranks tied for seventh in home runs among NL rookies despite playing in far fewer games than anyone
ahead of him. Every player tied or ahead of him has played at least 77 games, with five having played over 100 contests
Schwarber leads the NL with 27 runs scored since the All-Star break. His nine homers and 25 RBI in the season’s second
half are both tied for second-most in the NL.
