#Cubs Maddon to host charity boxing event Sept. 2

On Sept. 2, Cubs manager Joe Maddon and some of his players will take part in a charity boxing event at Ringside at the Ravenswood Event Center in Chicago. Several local youth boxers at various skill levels will fight plus there will be a special main event bout. Maddon bought a tux for the event, but will also be wearing his sneakers.

Guests will enjoy cocktails, hand-rolled cigars, and spirits tasting stations, delicious dinner courtesy of Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse, and a premium auction, including wine and unique sports memorabilia.

Proceeds from the event will help provide Chicago’s inner city children and young adults opportunities to develop championship attitudes through sports while encouraging fitness, academic and community engagement. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Crushers Club’s youth boxing program in Englewood. Tickets are $300.

Doors open at 6 p.m. CT at Ringside at Ravenswoor Event Center, 4011 Ravenswood Ave., Chicago.
