Is it not more than time for Lester to not only pitch effectively in every one of his starts but to dominate? It’s crunch time for the Cubs and although Lester has pitched well for the most part the honeymoon is near over and he will hopefully give Arrieta a run for his money for the “Ace” of the staff as he was brought in to be. This is the gamble a team takes when signing a pitcher (especially at Lester’s age) to a long term contract. Glad we have him but this signing will not go down as one of Theo’s most brilliant decisions, a good one to get the ball rolling but his best FA decision may come over the off season which should push Lester down to the number 3 slot in the rotation. Imagine how good this team will be next season if Jon Lester is our THIRD starter???!!! I think Lester will bring his A game vs. Kluber today so the offense will be tested for sure.

Lester pitched like an Ace today…however hitting his second batter to lead off the ninth inning putting the tying run on base came back to bite him. Does a real ace hit the lead off batter? Hell yeah, could happen to any ace pitcher during a stellar performance. One of those days karma was with our Cubs setting up Bryant’s awesome walk off to back up Lester’s excellent performance. Every performance and every play by every Cubs player is now so very MEANINGFUL. I think these young men are handling things in a very nice, calm way, never fearing an opponent and never fearing the score.
