#Cubs Minor League report: Markey 7 shutout IP

Dallas Beeler gave up one run over five innings and Chris Valaika hit a two-run homer in Iowa’s 8-1 win over Round Rock. Taylor Teagarden had two hits and two RBI. Taylor Davis had three hits.

Pierce Johnson gave up one run over seven innings in a 7-3 loss to Biloxi, which scored six runs in the eighth. Jacob Hannemann had two hits, including a solo homer. It was Johnson’s 10th quality start of the season, and he finished 6-2 with a 2.08 ERA.

Brad Markey threw seven shutout innings in Myrtle Beach’s 4-0 win over Wilmington. Markey struck out six and did not walk a batter. He is 7-0 with a 1.15 ERA. Gleyber Torres had two RBI and Ben Carhart had two hits and one RBI.

Zach Hedges gave up one run over five innings in South Bend’s 5-3 win over Dayton. Jordan Hankins had two hits and three RBI. Ian Happ drove in one run.

Eugene lost, 2-0, to Hillsboro. Ian Rice had two hits and Eloy Jimenez extended his hit streak to six games with a hit. Preston Morrison threw 3 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, giving up one hit.
