#Cubs Minor League report: Myrtle Beach evens series with W

Brad Markey gave up one hit over eight innings to lead Myrtle Beach to a 4-3 victory Thursday night over Winston-Salem and even the best of three series at one win apiece. The game was delayed because of rain for 2 hours 44 minutes in the ninth after Winston-Salem had loaded the bases with nobody out. When play resumed, Myrtle Beach finished for the win.

Markey retired the first 14 batters he faced. Chesny Young had two hits, including an RBI single, and Pin-Chieh Chen drove in two runs.

Game 3 will be played Friday in Myrtle Beach. Jonathan Martinez (9-2, 2.56 ERA) was slated to start.

On Thursday, Myrtle Beach drew a record-breaking crowd of 4,003 fans for the second game of the Carolina League Southern Division championship series. The crowd surpassed the previous high of 3,308 set in September 2000.

Cubs prospects keep coming up huge. This time Markey and today hoping for another well pitched game from Martinez.
Carolina League batting champion Chesny Young can help pull out this Championship.
