#Cubs kick off holidays with tree lighting

The Cubs will host a tree lighting ceremony on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. CT on the northwest corner of Clark and Addison streets outside Wrigley Field. The tree will be positioned in front of The Cubs Store because of ongoing construction at Wrigley Field.

Guests are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to place under the tree. The gifts will benefit families of Children’s Home and Aid Society. If you can’t attend the tree lighting, donations will be accepted at the Cubs Store leading up to Thursday’s event.

Hall of Famer Fergie Jenkins will help light the 28-foot tree, donated by Christy Webber Landscapes.

I hope there is a HUGE pile of gifts under our Cub’s Christmas tree! 🎄🎄

I second that emotion, White. Also, I`m grateful the Cardinals did not sign Price. It was reported the Redbirds made a $180M offer for the stellar pitcher, but that, of course, was trumped by the Bosox, and by plenty. Price is good, but not nearly good enough to command numbers such as those. The Red Sox are going to experience `buyer`s remorse,` and the Cards are going to eventually be `ecstatic` they were outbid on this particular southpaw, in my humble opinion. David Price ain`t another Sandy Koufax or Warren Spahn or any other great MLB lefthander in MLB history one may wish to compare him to. {Did anyone mention Randy Johnson?} Not even close. Yet he`s going to be paid as if he were. Another example of things in our society being turned upside down.

WOW! I just saw a picture of the Christmas tree all lit up with presents piled high. Beautiful! And our baseball snowman is a hoot! Some clever soul used a bat for his nose! The Cub’s Christmas spirit lives on! 🎄🎄
