#Cubs open Cactus League play

The Cubs open the Cactus League season Thursday, traveling to Phoenix to face the Brewers. Think they’re ready?

“There’s nothing like playing a game,” catcher Miguel Montero said. “We’re tired of practice. It’s time to go play and compete.”

Here’s the early lineup:

Schwarber LF

Bryant 3B

Rizzo 1B

Soler RF

Montero C

Baez CF

La Stella 2B

Vogelbach DH

Kawasaki SS

Travis Wood and Kyle Hendricks are each scheduled to throw two innings. This is the Cubs’ 38th consecutive spring in Mesa, the longest active streak in the Cactus League.

You can listen to Len Kasper and Mick Gillespie broadcast the games on MLB.com. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. Arizona time.
