#Cubs embrace new motto

Joe Maddon has delivered a few sayings since coming to the Cubs, such as “Do Simple Better,” “Respect 90,” and this year’s message, “Embrace the Target.”

On Sunday, Cubs players were wearing t-shirts with an image of Maddon’s glasses that said, “Try Not to Suck,” which was delivered in a light-hearted manner.

“It’s the most positive negative you’ve ever heard in your life,” Maddon said.

Maddon is hoping to sell the shirts at some point to raise money for his “Respect 90” foundation. Last year, either he or one of the coaches would offer it before a player’s at-bat.

“We would say it in the dugout and we all laughed,” Maddon said.
