#Cubs lose to Royals, Rockies

Eric Hosmer hit a two-run double and scored on Salvador Perez’s single in the sixth to lift the Royals to a 3-2 victory Monday in Mesa over the Cubs’ split squad team. Addison Russell hit a two-run homer for the Cubs, connecting with two outs in the fifth. It was his second of the spring.

In Scottsdale on Monday, Jason Heyward and Anthony Rizzo each hit solo home runs in a 4-2 loss to the Rockies. It was Heyward’s first homer this spring.

*Tommy La Stella had to leave Monday’s game in Mesa because of right calf soreness. Cubs hitting coach John Mallee also was out of action after he was hit on the left forearm  by a line drive by the Royals’ Eric Hosmer.

*On Tuesday, the Cubs will play host to the Dodgers at Sloan Park. Kyle Hendricks will make his first Cactus League start, and he gets to face Clayton Kershaw.
