#Cubs vs. Reds lineup and notes

John Lackey starts Saturday night in the third game of the Cubs’ series against the Reds. Lackey will try to join Jake Arrieta in winning his first four starts of the season, a feat previously not accomplished by a Cubs pitcher since Greg Maddux in 2006. The Cubs have not had two pitchers each win their first four starts in the same season since Hippo Vaughn and Phil Douglas each did so in 1918. Lackey has never done it in his career.

First pitch will be 6:10 p.m. CT from Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.

Here’s the lineup:

Fowler CF

Heyward RF

Bryant LF

Rizzo 1B

Zobrist 2B

Montero C

Baez 3B

Russell SS

Lackey P

The Reds have lost eight straight against the Cubs, and they’ve been outscored 65-14 in that span. It’s the Reds’ longest losing streak vs. the Cubs since 1945-46 (nine games).

Kris Bryant is 8-for-21 (.381 AVG) with 10 RBI against the Reds this season. All four of his home runs this year have come against the Reds.

On my way to the game now. Hopefully see some of this written history come alive!! Go Cubs!!

Aloha Klint! Very cool, I hear there are a lot of Cubs fans are in the Cincinnati area. I have to agree with jhosk about how the Cubs play/look at other organizations. I have empathy for any organization that is in the “rebuild” mold, Lord knows we Cubs fans have been through it over and over again for may years. With that being said, I think many of the other teams probably looked at the Cubs as a team to pick up a couple of games every series and that is not happening now, the Cubs do not have to be vindictive/vengeful just play great ball and be sportsman like, ambassadors for the game. Have a great time at the game now! Mahalo!

This is “payback time” as far as the Reds are concerned. During seasons 2012, 2013, and 2014 when we were rebuilding, the Reds abused the Cubs and beat us like a drum. {You can look it up.} I have absolutely no sympathy for that organization now that they are tanking. It`s “survival of the fittest.”
