#Cubs Arrieta vs Brewers at Wrigley

Weather permitting, Jake Arrieta will get the start Thursday in the Cubs’ series finale against the Brewers. Here’s the lineup:

Fowler CF

Heyward RF

Bryant LF

Rizzo 1B

Zobrist 2B

La Stella 3B

Russell SS

Ross C

Arrieta P

Arrieta is 20-1 with an 0.86 ERA over his last 24 regular season starts. His only loss in that span came when Cole Hamels threw his no-hitter against the Cubs on July 25.

Arrieta has a streak of 24 quality starts in a row, second longest streak since Bob Gibson established the MLB record when he threw 26 straight from September 1967 to July 1968.

Arrieta hasn’t allowed a run in 48 2/3 consecutive regular season innings at Wrigley Field, the longest streak in the ballpark’s history and the longest for any pitcher at his home park since the Phillies’ Ray Herbert threw 54 straight scoreless innings at Connie Mack Stadium spanning 1962-63.

It`s fitting that Jake will have had close to a week`s rest since his last outing in which his pitch count was necessarily elevated. Had not the special circumstances been present, he would have been lifted after five or six innings last Thursday.{ Has anyone identified some of those NL players who suspect Jake of cheating? Would love to see names. Am not a fan of obscuration. Let`s have transparency.}
