#Cubs Montero making progress

Cubs catcher Miguel Montero said his back felt good Friday after a batting practice session in the cage the day before but wasn’t sure when he’ll be able to return. Montero, sidelined since April 25 with lower back stiffness, is eligible to come off the disabled list on Tuesday.

“It feels better,” Montero said Friday. “It’s coming along good. Obviously, I’m not going to rush it and I’m going to take my time with it and see.”

Will Montero need to go on a rehab assignment?

“I don’t know,” he said. “I only lost eight games, so it’s not really that much. It’s not up to me. If they ask me, I don’t think I really need a rehab. Like I say, it’s not my decision.”

As anyone who has has back problems knows, you have to continue to monitor it.

“I felt really good in the cage,” Montero said. “Obviously, I’m still thinking about it a little bit. For the most part, I don’t feel anything and feel pretty good. You don’t want to go out there and hurt it again, so you try to take your time.”

Did y`all notice that my boy, La Stella, went yard today? Ben`s not shabby either. Someone suggested this is not the time to rest Anthony, and I can`t argue with that. I do not know how to act these days. Have been a fan 54 years and can`t recall this feeling this early in the season anytime prior. Any counsel you may provide me will be much appreciated. Did I mention Tommy La Stella went deep today?

Aloha jhosk- yes your boy went yard today! He seems a lot more comfortable with the team this year as I expected from all the players and coaches because it takes time to build chemistry. And you know the word got out because folks like Zobrist and Heyward and Lackey wanted to come and play for this team at a discount. With all these injuries early on, LaStella and Szczur (before his injury) have been invaluable. I do look forward to having Montero back and give kudo’s to Fed for his work thus far. I like you have been waiting a while for a team like this. You, White, Bruce and Jasper have been waiting a lot longer than myself as well as Carrie so I know you are all savoring this. My wife has to calm me down at times and remind me of how much this is a blessing that the team is doing well. She is right, I do not want to take this for granted. Tomorrow is another game against a very good Nationals team. I think Maddon looks at each game one at a time and that helps with their perspective as a team going in. Tomorrow should be exciting too! Mahalo!

Dude… He got rest… From two rainouts… He’s fresh my man… Chill… Maybe someone else say it so he doesn’t jump off the cliff
