Matt Murton had three hits and one RBI in Iowa’s 6-4 win over Albuquerque. Murton was batting .387 (12-for-31) in 11 games this month, and was 7-for-13 in his last three games. Rob Zastryzny gave up three runs over five innings. John Andreoli had two hits.
Brad Markey gave up one run over six innings in Tennessee’s 5-1 win over Chattanooga. Bijan Rademacher and Cael Brockmeyer each hit solo home runs. Mark Zagunis had three hits and two RBI. Markey finished May with a 2-1 record, 2.05 ERA in six games (five starts).
Myrtle Beach lost both games of a doubleheader against Wilmington, losing 8-4 in the first game, and 3-1 in 10 innings in the second. In the second game, Zach Hedges gave up one unearned run over seven innings. Ian Happ was a combined 3-for-7 in the two games, and Jeffrey Baez had three hits and one RBI.
Eloy Jimenez hit a walk-off solo home run in the ninth to give South Bend a 1-0 victory over Lansing. With the blast, Jimenez extended his hitting streak to 16 games. He’s batting .444 in that stretch and has hit seven home runs. Carson Sands started and gave up two hits over six scoreless innings. It was his third quality start.
