John Lackey was impressive today. That knock Almora Jr. was credited with was a gift from the official scorer, just as Freddie Galvis`s double in the first inning of Tuesday`s game was. Since it represents Albert`s very first major league hit, we won`t nitpick. Albert got over the hump, and I`m confident he will meet with continued success at the major league level. If it`s with us, or another major league team, is yet to be determined. He could be a trade piece, or not, down the road. It`s all uncertain. But I can tell y`all something which is certain. That team ERA which our Cubs` starters have established to this point in the 2016 season is something to behold. It is almost a full one run below the entire league average. The Phillies` broadcasters today were positively in awe of that figure, and could not stop gushing over how impressive that number is. {I`ll predict it puts the American League starting pitchers` average ERA to shame as well, but I can`t guarantee that.}

Why does Maddon continue to use Richard the guy can not get anyone out? Why don’t they send him out for assignment? They sure were quick to get rid of Ramirez. He just can not pitch to Lefties especially what does the staff see in him? Dump Him!!!!!!!!

Because it was 8-0 in the 9th inning, which is a good time to give a struggling reliever some work and a chance to get it together. They don’t send him for assignment because they don’t really have another lefty relief option to replace him at the moment. They were “quick to get rid of Ramirez” not because they didn’t want him, but because they needed the roster spot to activate Matt Szczur from the DL and didn’t want to dump Federowicz due to the fact that their other two catchers are a struggling and recently off the DL Montero and 39-year old Ross. Since Ramirez was the last guy on the bullpen depth chart, he happened to be the odd man out. I’m almost certain that the Cubs will look to add a quality arm or two to the bullpen by the deadline. There have already been rumors about Andrew Miller from the Yankees and I’m sure others will pop up before too long.

The pen is a weakness with this club, Neal. You are calling attention to that fact. I`m confident it will be addressed. You may need to wait until July for that however, as I do not see a lot of talent `in house` to mollify your concerns.
