#Cubs Minor League report

Thursday’s games

John Andreoli and Dan Vogelbach each hit home runs in Iowa’s 9-8, 10-inning loss to Colorado Springs. Andreoli had two hits and one RBI. Vogelbach’s blast was his 12th. Jake Buchanan gave up three runs over six innings.

Brad Markey gave up two earned runs over 5 1/3 innings in Tennessee’s 3-2 loss to Jackson. Kelly Dugan drove in a run.

Myrtle Beach’s game at Potomac was postponed because of inclement weather, and the two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday.

Preston Morrison threw seven shutout innings in South Bend’s 5-1 win over Lake County. South Bend is one win away from clinching a first half playoff spot. Morrison now has a 2.14 ERA since the beginning of May. Eloy Jimenez had two hits and one RBI and has hit in 11 straight games.

Eugene begins its season Friday against Boise.

The Cubs selected Oklahoma State ace Thomas Hatch in the third round of the draft earlier this month. You have an excellent opportunity of seeing him pitch Saturday as his team opens the 2016 CWS versus UC-Santa Barbara. Thus far in the tournament leading to Omaha, Hatch has tossed seven shutout innings in each of his two starts. That opening game is scheduled for 2:00 PM Central Time on ESPN 2.

Aloha jhosk, thanks for this update. I miss this part of the year, work and all harder to keep up with the CWS. I think the FO/scouting dept have done a good job with their picks given their placement in the draft. Of course time will time. I hope you work out your Sunday TV viewing! Mahalo!
