#Cubs Lester NL Pitcher of the Month

The Cubs’ Jon Lester was named National League Pitcher of the Month for June after going 4-0 with 1.41 ERA. He gave up seven earned runs over 44 2/3 innings pitched and struck out 44 in the month.

Lester was tied for first in the Majors in innings pitched during the month of June, was tied for first among NL pitchers in wins, and posted the NL’s second lowest ERA.

It’s  the fourth career Pitcher of the Month honor for Lester and first in the National League. Teammate Jake Arrieta was named NL Pitcher of the Month in April.

If they do not start hitting, they are not going to keep on winning. This past 14 games have basically been terrible and the if they do not do better pitching, the year is basically over. Losing 7 out of every ten put us not even in a wild card slot. Fridays game really showed how poor our pitching choices were.

You do realize they’re playing kids like Contreras, Almora who are just getting their feet wet in the big leagues
