Wednesday’s games

Iowa lost both games of a doubleheader against Omaha, losing in extra innings in both. Rob Zastryzny started the first, and gave up three runs over seven innings. Michael Wagner started the second game and gave up one earned run over four innings. Dan Vogelbach was 3-for-5 with a triple, three walks and scored two runs in the two games. Matt Murton had three hits and two RBI in the second game.

Tennessee’s game against Jackson was postponed because of rain. The teams will try to play a doubleheader on Thursday.

Myrtle Beach swept a doubleheader against Winston-Salem. Jonathan Martinez gave up three runs over seven innings in the first game, while Jeremy Null gave up three runs over five innings in the second. Ian Rice hit a solo homer in the second game. Rashad Crawford had two hits and two walks in the two games plus one RBI and one stolen base.

Preston Morrison struck out nine and gave up three hits over seven scoreless innings in South Bend’s 12-2 win over Fort Wayne. He’s now 9-3 with a 2.44 ERA, and 8-1 in his last nine starts. Bryant Flete and Roberto Caro each went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Eloy Jimenez reached base three times, with two hits, a walk and also drove in a run.

Eugene lost, 12-1, to Everett. Bryan Hudson gave up four runs over three innings. Trent Giambrone hit a double and drove in a run.

Mesa had the day off, and will play the Padres on Thursday.
