#Cubs recall Kawasaki

The Cubs recalled infielder Munenori Kawasaki from Triple-A Iowa and optioned infielder Jeimer Candelario to Iowa. Kawasaki was in uniform in Pittsburgh for Saturday’s game. He also entertained the players in the clubhouse pre game. Cubs manager Joe Maddon was asked if he had considered a magician to lighten things up. They got Kawasaki instead.

“It’s a lot more inexpensive and easier to find,” Maddon quipped.

Kawasaki, 35, was batting .271 (55-for-203) with nine doubles, one triple and 11 stolen bases in 61 games with Iowa this season.

Candelario, 22, went 1-for-11 with the Cubs. Although he was named to the All-Star Futures Game on Sunday, he will not play in the event.
