Pinch-hitter Tim Federowicz hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the eighth to lift Iowa over Colorado Springs, 8-5. Mark Zagunis and Cael Brockmeyer also homered. For Brockmeyer, it was his first at Triple-A. Federowicz is 8-for-14 with five RBI in his last four games.
Brad Markey gave up five hits over six scoreless innings in Tennessee’s 1-0 loss to Chattanooga. Joe Nathan gave up a solo homer in the ninth in his sixth rehab appearance. Markey has given up one or zero earned runs in eight of his 15 starts. Billy McKinney had three hits.
Myrtle Beach rallied for an 8-7 win over Wilmington. Jake Stinnett gave up six runs over five innings. Gleyber Torres had two hits, three RBI and two stolen bases. Rashad Crawford had two hits, including a double and a triple, plus one RBI. Tyler Pearson had two hits and one RBI.
South Bend trailed 11-5 in the ninth, sent 11 batters to the plate, and rallied for a 12-11 walk-off win over Bowling Green. Donnie Dewees delivered the game-winning RBI single. He finished 3-for-5. Eddy Martinez had three hits, including two doubles, and three RBI.
Eugene beat Hillsboro, 5-2. Jesus Castillo gave up two runs over 5 2/3 innings. Robert Garcia had two hits and two RBI.
Erling Moreno gave up three runs over 5 2/3 innings in Mesa’s 6-0 loss to the Rangers. Sam Tidaback hit a double and drew a walk.
