Monday’s games

Jordan Pries made his Cubs debut, and gave up two runs over six innings in Iowa’s 6-2 victory over Memphis. Pries was acquired from the Mariners along with Mike Montgomery last week. Mark Zagunis, Logan Watkins and Kristopher Negron each had two hits. In his first game back with Iowa, Albert Almora Jr. went 1-for-4 with a walk and scored a run.

Tennessee had the day off and faces Chattanooga on Tuesday.

Myrtle Beach beat Carolina, 9-5. Erick Castillo had two hits, including a solo home run. Yasiel Balaguert had three hits and one RBI.

South Bend swept a doubleheader against Peoria. Eloy Jimenez was a combined 4-for-4 with a double, solo home run, two walks and four RBI. Eddy Martinez had two hits, including a solo homer, and five RBI in the two games. Donnie Dewees had three hits.

Eugene rallied to win, 7-6, in 12 innings. Chris Pieters had two hits and one RBI. Vimael Machin had two hits and two RBI. Jared Cheek picked up the win, pitching three hitless innings in relief.

Mesa lost, 7-4, to the Brewers. Matt Swarmer made his first start, and struck out six over three innings.
