Monday’s games

Drew Rucinski struck out five and gave up one run over six innings in Iowa’s 3-2 win over Oklahoma City. Tim Federowicz had two hits and two RBI. Kristopher Negron, Taylor Davis and Jeimer Candelario each had two hits. Corey Black finished the game for his fifth save.

Ben Carhart hit a solo homer in Tennessee’s 5-3 loss to Montgomery. Carlos Penalver had three hits and Trey Martin drove in a run. Brad Markey gave up two earned runs over five innings.

Myrtle Beach had Monday off, and plays host to Salem on Tuesday.

Jose Paulino struck out seven and gave up one run over seven innings in South Bend’s 3-1 win over Great Lakes. Paulino, named the Cubs’ Minor League Pitcher of the Month for July, retired 21 of his final 23 batters. Tyler Alamo had two hits and P.J. Higgins hit a two-run single.

Eugene beat Vancouver, 4-3, on a walk-off RBI double by Tyler Paine in the ninth. Robert Garcia and Yeiler Peguero each had three hits. Bryan Hudson gave up one run over five innings.

Mesa lost, 7-6, to the Athletics. Stephen Fife gave up three runs over three innings. Isaac Paredes hit a double, drew two walks and scored two runs.
