Very disappointed in Arrieta’s performance tonight, but pleased to see the offense fight back to make a game of it. However…and I hate to sound like a broken record…but the squandered RISP to put this game away is a recurring problem. Let’s hope the Cubs can pull this one out. You hate to exhaust the bullpen in extras only to come up short. That’s a terrible way to start a series.

I`ve heard it said the players were fatigued after a delayed flight from the coast etc. and so forth, but it`s been a long road trip for the Pirates; so let`s dismiss the excuses. If you watched for the full five hours plus, God bless you! I refuse to devote that unmanageable chunk of time to any game. The Cubs had abundant opportunities to win this game in regulation. They had better hit in the clutch in the postseason, or it will be curtains. Tonight`s game is the Tuesday Night MLB Network`s Showcase Game, with Bob Costas, John Smoltz, and Tom Verducci. It does not get any better than that unless you are talking Vin Scully or Jon Miller. Tonight`s pitching matchup favors our side, but that was the case with Monday`s starters too, and look what transpired. It turned into a marathon with the starters long out of the picture before the contest came to favorable conclusion for the home team and its devoted and long-suffering fans.

Aloha Jason/jhosk, this is why the pitching has to be good because this young team will have issues with the RISP until they mature more at the plate. I also hope to see more maturity in their play in the field for example Baez; just want to see him make plays/routine or not without flash just get it done as they say. Good pitching and play in the field will go a long way with a team learning how to manufacture runs. I hope Hendricks gets some support tonight! Mahalo!
