David Bote had four hits, including a double, and one RBI but it wasn’t enough as Myrtle Beach lost, 4-3, in 12 innings to Lynchburg in Game 1 of the Mills Cup championship. The score was tied at 1 in the 12th when Lynchburg scored the game-winning run on a throwing error. Bote is 9-for-14 in four playoff games. Erick Leal gave up two runs over five innings, striking out six. Jeremy Null is scheduled to start for the Pelicans on Sunday in Game 2.

South Bend lost, 4-3, in 10 innings to West Michigan and was eliminated in the playoffs. Connor Myers had two hits, including a double and a triple, and two RBI. Vimeal Machin had two hits, including a double. Adbert Alzolay gave up two earned runs over five innings.

Eugene opens the best of three Northwest League Championship Series on Sunday at Everett. Dylan Cease is scheduled to start.
