I second the motion. Clarence can give ‘em what for! What is going on with our guys? I can’t remember a time like this when they are all in a slump. If this is what our hitting coach is creating than he should ” be benched” !! He ” tweaked and twisted” Barney into a robot. When Barney was told to go back to his regular hitting stance he got 4 hits in one game. Is the coach perhaps doing the same damage to the whole team?

How many others feel if we get swept by Cincinatti as Pirates just did–that hitting coaches will be re-assigned? I honestly dislike even mentioning disruption in peoples lives but that is baseball and life.

We are loaded with chips to deal this summer. I truly think the foundation of this club for the next ten years can be achieved. We are so darn far away with our prospects that we have to steal some really good double and triple A players. There are again several teams who want to win it all this year and they have been severly wounded by pitching injuries, Used car dealers and general managers do essentially the same job and for you car dealers out there–it is a needed occupation. Soon we may hear Len and Jim mention that Wrigley has an influx of scouts in attendance—that is clock ticking time for many players.l

Oh, get what you’re saying Mamma and believe you but I think the Cubs have some chips to deal and the owners’ stance may soften if a good player CAN BE HAD. Right?

I won’t buy into that. If another team wants one of our players they will offer a package, it may be a take it or leave it offer but I think they would at least try to get a few of our players like Garza, Dejesus, Barney, Feldman and Soriano. (I know, I had to put him in there just to keep the dream alive…)

There are several teams that have invested heavily to win this year and have lost starting pitchers due to injury. Now that Garza has returned and appears just fine we could trade early on and test Theo-Jed trading ability. I am not talking about Matt as scouts will want to watch him for awhile. Feldman and Wood are marginal pitchers who just happen to be having career years and we need to pull the trigger. The heavily invested teams need starters about as badly as I ever remember. Now, the bad news. I have been told that there are 19 teams that will not ever deal with the Cubs and this is a serious pact among these asst gm and GM. Can shyster general managers have a pact, I do not know. But this has been talk the talk, walk the walk, for many months now. The reason is “deception and arrogance” Go figure.
