Chris Archer gave up two runs, none earned, on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings in Tennessee’s 4-2 win over Montgomery Monday. Archer struck out six and has yet to give up an earned run in 22 1/3 innings with the Smokies. Brandon Guyer hit his seventh homer and Tony Campana had two hits.
At Iowa, Thomas Diamond gave up eight runs on eight hits over four innings in an 8-0 loss to Oklahoma City. Micah Hoffpauir had the Iowa Cubs only hit, a double. Brian Schlitter struck out four in two innings of relief.
Michael Brenly kept his hitting streak going even though his father is back with the big league team. Brenly now has an 18 game streak in Daytona’s 4-3, 19-inning win over Charlotte. Matt Matulia, originally an infielder for the Cubs, threw five scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win.
Nelson Perez, Luis Flores and Justin Bour each homered in Peoria’s 7-5 loss Bowling Green. Bour’s homer was his 10th.
Richard Jones had three hits in Boise’s 11-10 win over Spokane. Elliot Soto also had three hits and scored three runs.
The Mesa Rookie team lost, 2-1, to the Royals. Jeff Gray threw one inning and Carlos Zambrano pitched one inning, striking out one.

Casey Coleman gave up one run on four hits over six innings in Iowa’s 5-3 win over Omaha on Friday. Micah Hoffpauir went 3-for-4, hitting his 10th home run and two doubles. He drove in three runs. He has at least one RBI in seven of his last eight games. Darwin Barney had two hits.
In his first start at Double-A Tennessee, Chris Archer threw 5 2/3 scoreless innings, giving up three hits and striking out six. Russ Canzler and Matt Spencer each homered for the Smokies, and both had two RBIs.
Chris Rusin gave up one hit in three innings in Daytona’s 4-3, 14-inning loss to Tampa in a game resumed from Thursday. In the second game, Tampa won, 4-2. Michael Brenly had two hits and two RBIs for Daytona.
Greg Rohan picked up his 50th RBI in Peoria’s 3-1 loss to Kane County. Elliot Soto was 1-for-4 in his debut with the Chiefs.
Brandon May hit his third homer in Boise’s 6-2 loss to Yakima. Dustin Harrington notched his third multi-hit game in Mesa’s 5-4 win over the Indians. Vismeldy Bieneme had three hits and one stolen base.

Pitchers Chris Archer and Aaron Shafer were promoted from Class A Daytona to Double-A Tennessee. Archer was 7-1 with a 2.86 ERA with Daytona while Shafer was 2-1 with a 0.96 ERA in 24 appearances. Alberto Cabrera and Alex Maestri were sent from the Smokies to Daytona.
* Also, nine members of the Smokies were named Tuesday to the Southern League All-Star Game. Position players Tony Campana, Robinson Chirinos, Steve Clevenger, Blake Lalli and Ty Wright will join teammates Austin Bibens-Dirkx, Ryan Buchter, David Cales and Hung-Wen Chen on the North Division roster at Joe Davis Stadium in Huntsville, Ala. for the July 12 game.
Players were selected by a vote of Southern League field managers, radio broadcasters, general managers and print media.
