Greg Rohan hit a 10th inning solo home run to lift Iowa to a 3-2 victory over Nashville. Edwin Maysonet had two RBIs, tying the game with a two-run single in the ninth. Ty Wright and Edgar Gonzalez each had two hits. Justin Grimm started, and gave up one run over six innings, striking out six.
Javier Baez hit his 20th home run, connecting for the second straight game, to help Tennessee beat Chattanooga, 4-3. Baez was batting .377 with eight home runs and 38 RBIs with runners in scoring position this season. Brett Jackson had two hits, including a double, and one RBI. Matt Loosen picked up the win in relief.
Kyler Burke gave up four runs over four innings, striking out six, in Daytona’s 7-4 win over Brevard County. Kris Bryant had two hits, including a double and a triple, and two RBIs. He’s hit safely in 13 of 16 games with Daytona. Dustin Geiger, Dan Vogelbach and Chadd Krist each had two hits.
Nathan Dorris gave up one run over five innings in Kane County’s 11-2 win over Peoria. Trevor Gretzky hit his first home run, a solo shot in the fifth. Rock Shoulders had three hits, including a double, and three RBIs.
Hillsboro totaled 18 hits to beat Boise, 14-3. Kevin Encarnacion hit a two-run homer in the third for Boise, which begins playoff action on Tuesday against Salem-Keizer.
Justin Grimm gave up one earned run over five innings in Iowa’s 7-6 win over Omaha. Luis Flores hit a solo home run and Edwin Maysonet had three RBIs. Dave Sappelt and Edgar Gonzalez each drove in a run.
Eric Jokisch gave up two hits over six scoreless innings in Tennessee’s 4-2 win over Mobile. Arismendy Alcantara hit a solo home run and Jonathan Mota had two hits. It was Jokisch’s fifth straight quality start.
Dustin Geiger and Chad Krist each hit home runs to help Daytona beat Dunedin, 6-4, in the completion of Monday’s game. In the second game, Kyler Burke threw five scoreless innings of relief to combine with two other pitchers on a seven-inning no-hitter and a 1-0 Daytona win. Kris Bryant hit a double, and has now hit safely in 1 of his first 12 games with Daytona.
Reggie Golden and Jeimer Candelario each hit home runs in Kane County’s 8-7 loss to Wisconsin. The Cougars committed six errors in the game. They’ve now lost 77 games, setting a franchise record for most losses. The old mark was 61-76 set in 1992.
Boise had the day off.
Ryan Sweeney was 2-for-5 with a double and one RBIs in his third rehab game as Mesa beat the Mariners, 8-3. Luis Valbuena went 2-for-3 with a double and one RBIs in his first rehab game. Mark Malave had two RBIs and two doubles.
Nick Struck gave up five earned runs over five innings in Iowa’s 6-0 loss to Memphis. Barret Loux gave up two hits and struck out four over two innings of relief work.
Tennessee lost its third straight, dropping a 5-2 decision to Chattanooga. Eric Jokisch gave up three runs over six innings and struck out five.
Kyler Burke gave up one run on three hits over six innings in a 6-1 victory over Lakeland. Ben Carhart had three hits, and Zeke DeVoss, Javier Baez and Dustin Geiger each had two hits.
Carlos Escobar hit his first home run in Kane County’s 6-1 loss to Quad Cities.
Duane Underwood gave up six earned runs over 4 2/3 innings in Boise’s 8-6 loss to Spokane. The Hawks did collect 14 hits in the game, including three by Kevin Encarnacion and three by Jacob Rogers.
Mesa had Sunday off, and will play the Angels on Monday.
Nick Struck threw 6 2/3 scoreless innings as Iowa blanked Nashville, 7-0. Struck fanned three and scattered three hits. Dave Sappelt had three hits and three RBIs, and Logan Watkins and Brian Bogusevic each had two hits. Steve Clevenger added another hit and RBI, and was batting .364.
Tennessee had the day off and will return to action Wednesday at Chattanooga to begin the second half of the season.
Javier Baez and Tim Saunders each hit grand slams to lead Daytona to a 14-8 victory over Clearwater. For Baez, it was his 14th homer of the season. Kyler Burke started, and did not get a decision. He gave up four runs over four innings. Saunders finished with three hits.
Kane County had the day off for the Midwest League All-Star game, which the East win, 6-5. Dan Vogelbach was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI in the game for the West, and Tayler Scott struck out a batter in two-thirds of an inning.
Shawon Dunston had two hits and scored a run in Boise’s 9-2 loss to Salem-Keizer. Trey Lang started and gave up four earned runs over four innings.
Brooks Raley struck out six and gave up two earned runs over 6 1/3 innings in Iowa’s 7-3 win over Oklahoma City. Edwin Maysonet hit a two-run homer and Brian Bogusevic had three hits. Casey Coleman converted his first save, throwing 2 2/3 scoreless innings.
Arismendy Alcantara hit his seventh home run but it wasn’t enough as Tennessee lost, 7-2, to Huntsville. Alberto Cabrera took the loss.

Albert Almora had three hits in Kane County’s 4-3 win over Beloit in the first game of a doubleheader. Rock Shoulders hit two home runs in the second game, a 7-4 win. Shoulders is batting .289. Dan Vogelbach had two hits and is batting .291.
Brooks Raley gave up one earned run on five hits over 6 2/3 innings in Iowa’s 3-0 loss to Omaha on Thursday. Josh Vitters singled, and now has hit safely in 17 of his last 18 games. Raley did notch his fourth quality start, striking out four.
Tennessee and Jacksonville did not play because of rain Thursday.
Kyler Burke gave up two earned runs on seven hits over five innings in Daytona’s 5-2 loss to Dunedin. John Andreoli had three hits and stole a base, his 29th.
Zach Cates threw 4 2/3 scoreless innings in Peoria’s 2-1 win over Burlington. Cates struck out five. Dustin Geiger hit his sixth homer, a solo shot. Javier Baez had a hit and a stolen base. He was named to Baseball America’s Midseason top 50 prospects list.
Bijan Rademacher hit his first home run, one of two hits, in Boise’s 7-6 win over Tri-City. Marco Hernandez had two hits and two RBIs.
Justin Berg gave up six runs on four hits and one walk in one inning in a 12-11 win over the Angels. Tim Saunders was 5-for-6, scored four runs and drove in three.

Logan Watkins hit a solo homer in the bottom of the eighth to help Tennessee beat Birmingham, 3-2, on Saturday. Michael Burgess also homered for the Smokies. Kevin Rhoderick picked up the win in relief. Jae-Hoon Ha, who will play in the All-Star Futures game, had two hits.

Zach Cates gave up four earned runs on six hits over four innings and struck out five in Peoria’s 9-5 loss to Wisconsin. Paul Hoilman hit a double, and now has hit safely in 10 of his last 11 games.
Jose Arias gave up five runs on nine hits over five innings in Boise’s 12-6 win over Spokane. Stephen Bruno had two hits and one RBIs and Jeimer Candelario had three hits and two RBIs.

Blake Lalli hit his fifth home run but it wasn’t enough as Iowa lost, 10-8, to Albuquerque on Thursday. Brooks Raley gave up eight runs on nine hits over 5 1/3 innings. Brett Jackson had three hits and two RBIs, and was batting .267. Anthony Rizzo did not play, still nursing a bruised knee.
Nick Struck gave up four hits over 5 2/3 innings in Tennessee’s 3-2 win over Birmingham. Matt Cerda had three hits, including his second home run. Justin Bour had two hits and two RBIs.
Daytona lost 7-3 to Brevard County in the first game of a doubleheader. Robert Whitenack gave up three runs on four hits over three innings. In the second game, Daytona lost, 2-1. The game was called after eight innings because of unplayable field conditions. P.J. Francescon threw five shutout innings and did not get a decision. Micah Gibbs hit his fourth homer.
Kyler Burke gave up three runs on six hits over 6 1/3 innings in Peoria’s 5-3 loss to Beloit. Javier Baez hit his second homer in as many days, and was batting .310 this year.

Brooks Raley threw seven shutout innings, striking out six, to help Iowa blank Nashville 1-0 in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday. Matt Tolbert hit a first-inning home run, and finished with two hits. Dave Sappelt also had two hits. The Iowa Cubs lost the second game, 3-2. Esmailin Caridad gave up two runs on two hits over four innings. Ty Wright had two hits, and now is batting .405 this month.
Michael Brenly hit a tie-breaking two-run double in the eighth to lift Tennessee to a 6-4 win over Mississippi. Rebel Ridling hit his seventh homer, a two-run shot in the third.
Frank Del Valle gave up two earned runs on four hits and two walks over five innings in Daytona’s 7-0 loss to Tampa. Daytona was out-hit 13-3 in the game.
Kyler Burke threw seven shutout innings, giving up two hits and striking out nine, in Peoria’s 4-1 win over Kane County. Burke had a perfect game through five innings before giving up a single in the sixth. The former outfielder is now 2-2 with a 2.13 ERA. Anthony Giansanti had three hits.

The Class A Peoria Chiefs have placed four players on the Midwest League All-Star team. They include first baseman Paul Hoilman, catcher Rafael Lopez, second baseman Zeke DeVoss and pitcher Kyler Burke. Hoilman and Lopez are both starters. Burke, a recent convert to pitching, also was named to the ’09 All-Star team as an outfielder.
