5/13 Minor League report – Saturday’s games

Franke De La Cruz, making a spot start for Casey Coleman, gave up three runs on five hits over four innings in Iowa’s 4-3 loss to Sacramento. Coleman was called up to the big league team on Saturday. Alfredo Amezaga had two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs.

Nick Struck gave up four runs on 10 hits over 5 2/3 innings in Tennessee’s 9-2 loss to Jackson. Junior Lake reached base twice with a single and a walk. Justin Bour had two hits and one RBI and Michael Burgess had two hits, including a double.

Eric Jokisch gave up four hits over six scoreless innings in Daytona’s 4-0 win over Brevard County. Rubi Silva had two hits and one RBI.

Paul Hoilman’s hit streak is over. He went 0-for-4 to end his hitting streak at 24 games in a 2-1 win over Burlington. P.J. Francescon gave up one unearned run on three hits over 7 1/3 innings for the win.

5/13 Minor League report – Friday’s games

Travis Wood struck out six and gave up three runs on eight hits over six innings in Iowa’s 6-5 win over Fresno on Friday. Anthony Rizzo, Josh Vitters and Ty Wright each homered to back Wood. Rizzo now is batting .349. All three had two hits each. Blake Parker converted his fourth save, pitching one inning in relief.

Brooks Raley gave up two runs on five hits and struck out seven over seven innings in Tennessee’s 2-1 loss to Jackson. Nate Samson had three hits.

Daytona’s game at Charlotte was canceled because of rain. Daytona had a 6-0 lead when the game was called but it will not be made up because the two teams do not meet again in the first half.

Paul Hoilman keeps on hitting. He extended his hitting streak to 24 games with a double in Peoria’s 6-2 win over Beloit. Michael Jensen gave up one run on five hits over 5 2/3 innings for the win.
