4/11 Minor matters

Drew Carpenter gave up two runs on three hits over five innings in Iowa’s 3-2 win over Round Rock. Luis Flores hit a solo home run and Ryan Sweeney and Edwin Maysonet each had two hits. Blake Parker became the Iowa franchise’s all-time saves leader, throwing 1 1/3 innings to pick up his 35th career save.

Justin Bour hit a solo home run but Tennessee lost, 6-2, to Chattanooga. Dallas Beeler took the loss, giving up two runs on six hits over six innings. Rubi Silva had two hits.

Dustin Geiger, Zeke DeVoss and Taiwan Easterling each homered but it wasn’t enough as Clearwater beat Daytona, 14-9. DeVoss now has hit safely in five of his first six games. Ryan Searle struck out four over 3 2/3 innings of relief, and has not given up a run in 8 1/3 innings.

Tayler Scott gave up four runs on three hits over two innings in Kane County’s 10-4 loss to Clinton. Rock Shoulders had two hits, extending his hitting streak to seven games.

* The Smokies made a roster move. Infielder Anthony Giansanti was activated from the disabled list, and infielder Elliot Soto placed on the DL, retroactive to Wednesday. Giansanti, 24, was placed on the DL on April 4 and will be making his Double-A debut. Last season, he batted .264 in 36 games with three different teams (Peoria, Arizona Cubs, Daytona). Soto, 22, was 1-for-9 with three walks and one stolen base in five games for the Smokies this season.
